Newham celebrates South Asian Heritage Month

22 June 2021 - Newham Unlocked

South Asian Heritage Month

Newham is, officially, the most ethnically diverse place in the country.

To mark South Asian Heritage Month, we’re planning a variety of free educational, arts and cultural events, working with local artists and organisations to showcase food, literature and history.

Cllr Muzibur Rahman, Deputy Cabinet Member for Communities said: “This is an opportunity to highlight what it means to be South Asian in the 21st century, as well as look to the past to see how Britain became the diverse country it is today.

“We invite everyone to join in and celebrate the rich history and diversity of South Asian people who have made the borough their home.”

South Asian Heritage Month runs from 18 July to 17 August. For more information please visit: newhamsouthasianheritage.org
